“La Foule is a typographical interpretation, across three double-page spreads, of the song by Édith Piaf, accompanied by photographic interpretations of Emil Cadoo, an American photograph living in Paris. The project was started in October 1964, finished in August 1965 and published in Evergreen Review, a progressive American literary magazine from Grove Press (…) With La Foule, Massin experimented still further with the typographical manipulation he had explored in his earlier works, while combining it with a new documentary-related photographic aesthetic.”
