Jules Romain. Les copains. Club du meilleur livre, 1953

“The endpapers and title pages were integrated into the “unfurling” and played their part in creating the book’s atmosphere. Massin often mentions the cinematic quality in the design concept of the book, showing the narrative structure, change in rhythm and scale. The twenty flyleaf pages of Jules Romanin’s book Les Copains, is a good example of this: these flyleaves present the novel’s seven student protagonists in succession.”
