Meisterbuch der Schrift / Jan Tschichold. Ravensburg: Otto Maier, 1952
“[On his return to Switzerland] he continued to write and compile his own books, on a variety of aspects of printing and book design. Perhaps the most important was the Meisterbuch der Schrift, published by Otto Maier Verlag, Ravensburg, in 1952, and later published in English as Treasury of Alphabets and Lettering by Reinhold, New York, in 1966: it consists of an authoritative introductory essay on letter-forms and typographic principles, followed by 176 pages of plates in half-tone and line, beautifully printed by offset.”
