In the 1930's, the typophoto, i.e. a combination of typography and photography, became a standard in publishing that totally replaced illustrated dust jackets. The speed and objectivity of perception provided by photography and typography blending into one came to be regarded as a necessary prerequisite in the selling power of the dust jacket.”
