Foto-Auge. Stuttgart: Akademischer Verlag Dr. Fritz Wedekind, 1929
“Foto-Auge was selected among the winners of the first annual competition for the 'fifty most beautiful books' in 1929, and Tschichold remained proud of its design. In the 1970s he was asked to write a short note about it for a bookseller's catalogue: 'My aim was to make a modest, unpretentious book, which should be beautiful but inexpensive. Above all without a hard binding.' As a way of adding bulk to the book, which consisted of mere 84 pages, he had it bound in Chinese folds (pages of double paper thickness, folded & uncut at the fore-edge), with the paper coated only on the one side to be printed.”
