Max Pechstein. Almanach 1920 Fritz Gurlitt. Berlin: F. Gurlitt, 1920
“Certain publishing enterprises that served Expressionist illustration well fall into a different category. These are the art-dealers who affiliated themselves for short periods with a publishing house. They include the Alfred Flechtheim and Hans Goltz galleries, and most notably Fritz Gurlitt. The Gurlitt-Verlag published not only two unusually illuminating almanacs and annuals but also several illustrated series. The almanacs appeared in 1919 and 1920, with cover designs by César Klein and Max Pechstein, who also drew the calendar. Both volumes contained original graphics.”
