Through the looking glass / Lewis Carroll. Harmondsworth: Penguin, 1948 (Puffin Story Book)
“One particular book within the series [Puffin Story Book] that Tschichold focused his attention on was Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There (...) Tschichold cleverly adorns the front cover with an illustration drawn by John Tenniel of the young girl stepping through the looking glass and a similar illustration of the young girl stepping out the other side onto the back cover. The illustration served as a visual metaphor for reading and experiencing the story from beginning to end. The typography treatment for the back cover was placed backwards and read from right to left, an occurrence that happens when reflected into a mirror.”
