Aus der Art geschlagen. Berlin: Der Bücherkreis, 1930

“During approximately two-and-a-half years he designed around twenty-five books for the Bücherkreis, in which he was able to test the applicability of a modern style to literature and to put into practice his demand in Eine Stunde Druckgestaltung for ‘cheap books, not private-press editions; active literature, not passive leather-bindings’. Such an aim fitted well with the aims of the Bücherkreis, which had been founded in 1924 by an educational committee set up by the Social Democratic Party”.
